Yes. We’ve built a 5-week beginner programme to help new students learn the fundamentals in a structured, supportive way, without being thrown in the deep end. At the end of the course, you’ll be ready to join our other programmes.
-
If you’ve trained for less than two months, we recommend starting with our 5-week beginner programme. This will give you a structured foundation before moving into the main classes.
If you’ve trained longer, you can book a free Gi or No Gi trial class here. Add any questions in the comments during sign-up and we’ll be in touch to make sure you’re placed in the right session.
If you’re unsure, send us an email via the contact form and we’ll advise the most suitable class based on your experience. -
You can find all membership options and pricing here.

Yes. At MGA, you’ll be graded through our belt system regardless of whether you train Gi, No Gi, or both. We encourage new members to try both disciplines, but students who choose to focus only on No Gi will still progress and be promoted the same way as Gi practitioners.

We run 19 adult classes each week, Monday to Saturday, from early morning through to late evening.
Sessions cover all levels across both Gi and No Gi. As our community grows, we’ll continue expanding the timetable to give members even more opportunities to train. You can view the full timetable here. -
During our 5-week beginner programme, we run three classes each week and require students to attend two sessions a week (ten in total) to graduate. Training consistently in those early weeks is the only way to build a solid base.
After that, it’s up to you. Some people train twice a week alongside work and family, while others are on the mats multiple times a day chasing goals.
We recommend a minimum of two sessions a week if you want to keep improving, but the truth is most people end up wanting to train more because BJJ is addictive and it only gets more rewarding as your skills increase.
-
We grade each student as an individual. Age, goals, physical abilities, potential, consistency, and attitude all play a part. Above all, progression is based on technical proficiency and applying your skills on the mat, supported by clear grading criteria at each level.
