Helping kids build confidence, resilience, and focus through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
KIDS bjj programme
Why BJJ is Great for Kids
Jiu Jitsu is hands-on, practical, and constantly engaging, kids don’t just stand in lines or repeat drills endlessly. They wrestle, move, problem-solve, and learn how to control themselves and others in a safe, structured way.
At MGA, we focus on building skills kids can actually use: body awareness, balance, coordination, and the ability to think clearly under pressure. Alongside that, they learn how to work with partners, show respect, and keep trying even when things feel tough.
The result isn’t just better grappling. It’s kids who are fitter, more focused, and more resilient.
Programme overview
Our kids’ programme is split into two age groups so training is safe, structured, and age-appropriate with weekly classes held as follows:
Ages 4–7
Monday 4:00pm
Wednesday 4:00pm
Saturday 8:30am
Ages 8–13
Monday 4:45pm
Wednesday 4:45pm
Saturday 9:15am
All classes run for 45 minutes. Each session follows a simple structure: warm-up games and movement drills, technical instruction, practice with a partner, and controlled sparring. This keeps kids engaged while steadily building skill, confidence, and discipline.
Classes are led by our experienced black belt coaches, all of whom hold valid Working With Children Checks. Alongside their years on the mats, they bring patience, professionalism, and a focus on helping kids grow in confidence and discipline in a positive setting.

Kids can start from 4 years old, up until 14.

BJJ is a contact sport, so small knocks and scrapes are part of the learning process. Safety is always our top priority. Classes are supervised by black belt coaches, grouped by age, and taught in a structured way to minimise risks. Parents can feel confident their child is training in a safe and supportive environment.

Yes. Sparring is an important part of BJJ and is introduced gradually in a safe and controlled way. It helps kids apply the techniques they’ve learned and is often the most enjoyable part of training. Our coaches supervise closely to make sure sparring is safe and appropriate for each age group.

We use the standard kids’ BJJ quarterly promotion system. This is the internationally recognised belt system for kids.
Stripes are awarded quarterly for consistent training and improvement, with belts earned roughly every 12–15 months.

Many kids start this way. BJJ builds confidence naturally by giving them skills, friendships, and small wins on the mat. Most settle in quickly once they join the group.

Most kids train 2–3 times per week, but attendance is flexible.
